I don't think I would term myself an activist. I feel my activism takes the form of living my life in a manner that shows people I'm a good person; worthy of respect, worth emulating. Occasionally I will get off my butt and get involved in something. Usually something to do with animals, like the recently abandoned cat I found placement for; or something like getting out the vote on an issue that I feel some passion for; and there is always my weekly trash walk in which I walk the country road I live on and pick up all the garbage that people toss out their car windows. I've also chosen to identify organizations that at first glance may seem worthy, but upon further review are no better than the organizations they protest against. Animals

I support the idea that every creature should be treated in a humane fashion. However, this organization is just like any other extreme fund raising rights group. The Crisis Center offers crisis intervention counseling as well as assistance with medical and legal needs. Both personal and telephone contact with survivors of rape and sexual assault and their families are available. Services are free and confidential. |

The Flint Hills Human Rights Project is a group working to promote GLBT civil rights in the Manhattan/Junction City/Wamego, Kansas, area. FHHRP meets at 7 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of the month at First Congregational Church in Manhattan. |

I have to admit, it was sort of pathetic that I had to go to a Canadian website to find a link to an anti-litter organization in the USA. But, it was worth the search to find Keep America Beautiful. |
